About

Jose "Chepe" Lara Bañuelos is a Mexican American graphic designer based in Los Angeles.

My deep connection with my heritage has heavily driven my style and designs. Using Vibrant colors allows me to compose designs that connect with viewers and trigger a lasting impression. I like exploring how different types and forms can add depth and personality.

    LA Planta

LA Planta is a fictional plant convention that I collaborated on with a team to develop a branding system centered on the theme "Honoring Native Plants." This branding system served as the foundation for the website and other deliverables created collaboratively with my peers: Frances Flores, Esmeralda Segura, and Stephanie Salazar. My contributions focused on designing the main poster, banners, and various assets for the project.

    Escudos: Liga MX
In this project, I reimagined the 14 iconic crests of Liga MX, Mexico's top soccer league, blending creativity with each team's rich traditions. The redesigned crests were compiled into a pocket zine, celebrating their artistry and cultural significance.

    Kemonito
Kemonito is a bilingual zine that I designed and produced to showcase my expertise in typography through a cohesive system and structured layout. By strategically selecting colors and imagery, I elevated the content of an ordinary interview, transforming it into a visually compelling and dynamic narrative with a distinctive voice.

    The Gastro App
The Gastro App is a phone application designed to help users explore and discover diverse culinary experiences. The app offers curated recommendations, user reviews, and a seamless interface for finding local street vendors. My role involved creating an intuitive user interface and developing a cohesive visual identity to enhance the user experience.
